What users like the most

  • Zoho Books is simple, and setting it up is quick and easy.
  • The system's automation is fantastic, and it saves you a lot of time.
  • Thanks to simple, useful software with excellent visual displays, data is accessible and easy to exchange with other users and professionals.

What users like the least

  • The payment arrangements are a bit inconvenient.
  • The number of contacts is limited, and as a firm with many contacts and just one transaction per contact, it quickly becomes prohibitively expensive.
  • We cannot enter our comments in the weekly log, making it tedious to open each day's entry and enter the comments.

Review Summary
Summarized from 44 verified reviews · Updated September 2026
Zoho Books is praised for its ease of use and affordability, making it accessible to users with limited accounting experience. The software handles invoicing, bank reconciliation, GST compliance, and automation well, with cloud accessibility and strong integration within the Zoho ecosystem. Common drawbacks include integration limitations with external payment gateways, an outdated or confusing interface for some users, occasional performance delays, and gaps in advanced features like project reporting and inventory management. Overall, it suits small and medium-sized businesses but may require additional customization as companies scale.

“Security maintained”

Overall rating5.0

Zoho is a tad more cost effective per package. Your information remains your own. Unlike QuickBooks, who saves your data within Intuit, Zoho gives you full ownership of all account info.

“Very Good Software for all business”

Overall rating4.0

Automated workflows are included in all three Zoho Books pricing plans. It allows you to automate routine processes that would normally be completed manually. Another unique feature that Zoho includes is a client portal. Within the client portal, your customers have access to all of the transactions that have been created, like estimates and invoices.

I found that Zoho books was simple to learn and start using. Its users do not require prior accounting skills. The templates are simple and straightforward. It is fast and supports multi-users and currencies. The feature to create a portal for clients and suppliers is an additional bonus.

“Not recommendable for higher projects”

Overall rating2.0

There’s one small downside. You cannot see a report for unbilled time per project (or at least I couldn’t, nor did the support person).
