Without any doubt, the best content management software that I have personally used is WordPress. It's beginner-friendly, it allows plenty of customization and the plugins allow you to add virtually all features and functionalities that you could ever need on a website.

As Vice President of Marketing of Ambrosia Treatment Center, here are my thoughts regarding WordPress:

Wordpress is free and extremely robust. It can do anything you need it to do. There are thousands of plugins and themes pre-built to make the CMS do and look how you want. 



The problem with that kind of depth is that things can be complicated. Many hosting providers now have versions of Wordpress that are much lighter for non-technical users.

I have been using Wordpress to grow my global business -  PamBrossman.com for over 10 years. It has evolved into a very sophisticated and easy to use platform that accommodates all my mentoring and marketing needs as technology grows. With developers now creating simple drag and drop interfaces, there has never been an easier content marketing software, in my opinion, than Wordpress.



In fact, it is so easy I build my own websites and I am a technophobe. I use it for content marketing, selling online education and memberships, eCommerce, marketing, list building and business growth globally for my personal brand. The one platform does it all. With just a few extra plugins, I can run my online business from anywhere around the world using Wordpress.

As a founder of my own travel site - The Travel Tart, the experience of WordPress has been excellent. People run into problems if they don't update the installation and plugins regularly. I like how it's SEO friendly out of the box, plus you can add a load of functionality to a website with by adding plugins, etc - and do it automatically, e.g. linking, add schema, etc. After using a number of CMSs, I'm most comfortable and familiar with Wordpress.

We currently use it to run our content marketing blog(Blogging Done Better) and plan to extend it with a shopping cart and affiliate program in the future.

We chose Wordpress because it's a well coded, lightweight and secure software with near infinite customization ability and a very large community of passionate coders and developers working behind the scenes to make it more awesome.

It's easy to use interface makes using it a breeze, even if you've never used Wordpress before. And if you get stuck anywhere, you can find answers from the large community or by simply running a web search.

The only (small) negative with Wordpress is that, to extend its capabilities, you need to select the right plugin, usually from thousands of options. So while having a large number of options is great, it can also get overwhelming and choosing the right plugins can sometimes take quite a while.

Pros:

Wide variety of plugins available. Whatever problem you want to solve or functionality you want to add to your website, there’s probably a plugin to do that.

Easy navigation and user-friendly design. Even if you’re an inexperienced user, you can publish a new article or edit the existing one without much effort.

Large support community. In case one of the plugins installed doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to, there’s a forum where your fellow WordPress users can help you solve the problem.

Cons:

Vulnerability. It’s not uncommon for WordPress site owners to fall victim to hackers. There’s a number of plugins you can install to protect yourself from that, but this doesn’t guarantee 100% security.

Low speed. WordPress is ideal for smaller websites, but when you start attracting higher traffic, the website speed might decrease.

To sum up:

As a CEO of Happysleepyhead, I personally feel WordPress is nice and simple. This CMS works great for blogs, news platforms, and corporate sites with low or medium traffic. If you run a high-traffic website, you may face the need to do a lot of changes to the existing system or -- which is more reasonable -- create your own infrastructure.

As a Co-Founder and CEO of DontPayFull, here are my thoughts regarding WordPress:

Pros of WordPress:

User-friendly: WordPress is equipped with a very strong content management system and that is why it is very easy to navigate through the contents and pages of a WordPress website.

Countless Plugins: WordPress users can easily enhance the functionality of their websites by gearing up with over 50,000 plugins and most of the WordPress plugins are absolutely free.

SEO friendly: Every business website is continuously supported by different digital marketing procedures and WordPress websites respond best to any kind of SEO techniques.

Mobile responsive: Today every business website need to be opened and surfed through mobile devices and WordPress offers a huge array of mobile responsive themes for websites.

Open source: Being open-source software, programmers can change and redistribute the source code of WordPress which saves a lot of time and cost of developing the website.

Cons of WordPress:

Updates may cause trouble: Updates are essential to keep the WordPress website secure and WordPress themes are frequently updated. But these updates might cause small problems in properly running the websites.

Considerably vulnerable: Being open-source software, potential hackers find it easy to intrude in WordPress websites. If plugins are not carefully checked before installing, WordPress websites become vulnerable.

Plugins decrease speed: WordPress themes and plugins contain a good number of generic codes. So these plugins usually decrease the site speed and increase the loading time of the website.

As a Digital Marketer of CS Team, here are my opinions regarding WordPress:

Wordpress is surely one of the most popular CMS currently present because is free, simple to use and adaptable to various needs and devices. Wordpress is also adapted for all the search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo…) and has a lot of functions to improve the SEO.

But it lacks some things: for example, since the introduction of GDPR, if you want to create a blog in the European zone or that interact with it you have to download a plug-in for GDPR, plug-in that is not already present at the beginning.

Also, by its very nature of free software, some of the features are locked, and you have to pay for them, because the features locked are often more attractive of the free ones, and this could bring potential users to address to other CMS.

Moreover, the menu might be sometimes hard to understand, especially for beginners, and some features aren’t very clear.

In the end, the overall experience is positive, even if there might be some confusion with some features.

Pros:



1. A commonly known advantage of Wordpress is that it's very easy to use and it's a great platform for beginners and people with no coding knowledge. But as a founder of GoodVitae, I feel that one of the great pros of WordPress is that it sticks and promotes white hat methods and guides users to follow international compliances. Like, if you add an external link, it by default adds 'noreferrer', which addresses security vulnerabilities, plus makes the site look good in the eye of the google. Also, when GDPR was rolled out, WordPress guided its user to build a strong and clear privacy policy page.

 

2. Wordpress has a huge userbase. Thus developers around the world have developed plugins for almost all the needs of a user, which makes it easier, cheaper, and time-saving for the user to build a website from scratch.

 

Cons:



1. Plugins are advantageous, but sometimes they can do harm. You can't avoid plugins on WordPress if you really want to build a website with multiple functions and widgets. But, these plugins sometimes makes your site vulnerable to external threats. Recently, the yellow pencil plugin exposed 30000 users to attackers, which makes the Wordpress a less safe CMS.



Overall experience:

It's a good experience, and it's easy to operate. With no coding skill, I was able to develop a site which is SEO friendly. Also, Wordpress allows me to stick to my work, while not spending much time on coding or other time-consuming activities.
