Evernote

Pros: I've been an Evernote user since early 2008. Nearly every project, idea, or bit of information I have collected in the past 11 years has ended up in Evernote at some point. The ecosystem and community of Evernote has kept it alive and vibrant far longer than many competitor apps.

I've used more than 300 productivity tools in the past decade and only a handful have remained year in and year out, Evernote is one of those.

There are so many different ways to structure and use Evernote that I am constantly discovering new methodologies and use cases. As an organization and collection too it is tough to beat especially with the needful tagging and search features.

Evernote essentially pioneered the web clipper and still had best in class clipping functionality with few rivals. The ease with which you can collect data into Evernote is the number one selling point for me.

In that note, by far the most powerful aspect of Evernote and where it has competitors beat is its ubiquity and integrations. Evernote is everywhere. It is on every operating system and integrates with dozens of other tools, apps, and software. My two favorites productivity tools of all time were built around Evernote, IQTELL and LiveMinutes. Sadly, neither tool is alive today but they each showed the power and potential of Evernote.

Cons: Over the past couple of years I have begun to use Evernote less often as I gravitate toward the greater flexibility of Notion. I still use Evernote for its amazing web clipper and I keep most of my legacy notes there but Evernote does have work to do to keep pace with some emerging stars such as Notion, Coda, Bear, Notejoy, Milanote, Webjets, and many others. Evernote lacks a way to build an effective wiki with all of this data that has been collected. There is no way way to connect notes or create a dynamic table of contents. The worksheets and tables are far behind the competition (Airtable, Infinity, Notion) and the ubiquity and collecting capabilities are being passed by apps like ClickUp. The Android experience continues to be a second class effort from the Evernote community with most third party or addon features/support only on iOS.

Summary: Evernote continues to be a great productivity tool. It will likely be part of my and many others workflow for another decade. How big a role it plays and whether or not it's premium or a free plan will really depend upon continue development and improvement to keep pace with the newer more flexible wave of productivity tools. Evernote may need to take a cue from Microsoft who spent much time battling Google and Android only to realize the opportunity in embracing those powerful tools working to create tight integrations. Today I use Android and Windows hand-in-hand for many things. I'd like to see the day when I use Notion and Evernote similarly.

As we are doing lot of google search and reading everyday, we forget things and using web clipper I was able to capture the entire page, it was very useful.

Still am using only the free version and able to capture the audio notes from the meetings

Although, it is a bit pricey it is one of the best productive apps out there. Great for saving online articles, clippings, note taking and other very useful features and tools. Highly recommend it!
