Over the past 15 years, there's been a clear revolution in documentation. Whether you're talking about newspapers or technical documents, we've gone from primarily creating printed documents to creating online documents. Most professional writers author in DITA. Those DITA/XML files have to be converted from DITA into HTML using a complicated build system. So, why not skip the complication and use an editor that authors in HTML? MindTouch does exactly that. But wait, if you're a professional writer, you want all of the complex tools available in modern authoring tools like MadCap Flare, Oxygen, and XMetal. MindTouch gives you all of those advanced tools as well, such as reuse, cross-linking, embedded images, and so on. Finally, how hard is MindTouch to use? The good news is it's WYSIWYG. You don't have to suffer authoring in one format without seeing what the output is really going to look like, which is the case when authoring in Markdown. MindTouch has found a niche: an easy-to-use interface that produces HTML content without needing to build HTML out of XML.
