Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.

Zaag systems is a software development firm working with over 30 team members since its inception in 2020. Currently, we are serving clients from the US, EU, and UAE with plans to tap into the Australian and Japanese markets by 2025. We specialize in software applications for mobile platforms and the ones dealing with high transactional data.

Nevertheless, our experts are also skilled in developing websites, web applications, and any custom software a business might need. We use state-of-the-art technology (Swift, Kotlin, flutter, React native, Spring Boot, ReactJS, Next JS), maximizing the value our clients receive.

As the CEO, I oversee the marketing and sales operations and make management decisions to reach revenue and growth targets. I also have to deal with lead generation as more than 90% of our revenue is attributed to foreign clients.

What is the story behind starting this company?

The chairman of this company and I saw an opportunity within the rapidly digitizing landscape while pursuing our undergrad in computer sciences way back in 2006. We were driven by enthusiasm and a vision of automating businesses operating locally and across borders. However, it was not until 2019 that we could put aside our nine-to-five jobs and focus on our start-up.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third-party vendors/ outsourcing?

Our primary business model utilizes our in-house team with over 30 members to meet client needs. We also do IT staff augmentation, where we put professionals up for hire.

How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

We use the most advanced technology available to us, giving us a competitive edge when meeting client expectations. For example, we use ReactJS instead of the more commonly used technologies like WordPress for front-end development. For back-end development involving high transactional data, we use Spring Boot and NodeJS rather than PHP, Dot Net. In addition, we offer competitive prices compared to industry averages. We also thrive to provide an equitable work environment where our team members get the opportunity to grow. Moreover, we plan to introduce health insurance and profit sharing to keep them motivated.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

We generally cater to a wide range of industries, including (but not limited to) health, tourism, marketing, retail, eCommerce, fashion, delivery, and distribution. We are still in our infancy and have been able to serve a handful of clients who haven’t needed us to do more projects. In that sense, our customers have not been repetitive. However, they will likely return once they need solutions to newer problems, as we can tell from their level of satisfaction with our services.

Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

We offer mobile app development services, which seem to be one of the most requested ones among our clients. We also provide CMS, web applications, and web development services.

What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?

Based on their feedback, we would rate our client satisfaction 4.5 out of 5. In most cases, we found our clients seeking real-time updates and open communication channels. We use “Trello” to update them on the progress in real-time and hold periodic meetings to ensure coherence with expectations. We also welcome constructive feedback on any stage of a project, keeping things flexible and minimizing instances of inconsistency.

What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

We set up meets at our clients’ discretion for comprehensive follow-ups. Using Skype and email, they can also communicate with a SPOC (single point of contact) assigned to every project, who then delegates the issue to upper management if necessary. As long as we are not overwhelmed with client requests, we don’t plan to switch to a ticketing system, which shows our commitment to transparency and accountability.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

We follow a pay per milestone payment structure. These milestones are determined when a project is defined before its execution. The SMART milestones give the clients an exhaustive list of deliverables. The payment is taken in advance before moving on to the next milestone.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

Our basic budget requirement is $10,000 at the moment. However, we are always open to making room for smaller projects, given the requirements don’t clash with our existing undertakings and we reach a comfortable ground regarding the price.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2020?

6,000-50,000 USD.

As 2020 was our first year of operations, we catered to projects ranging from $ 6,000 to $50,000.

Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?

We want to take Zaag systems global in the next ten years. The vision is to get international recognition as a brand in the software development industry. Moreover, in the next five years, we plan to expand our company to have more than 500 team members.
